Hopes and plans
Lección 9 Bloque 2
En esta unidad veremos el lenguaje que nos ayuda a hablar sobre aspectos importantes en nuestras vidas, como son nuestros planes y esperanzas. A veces, cuando hablamos con nuestros amigos decimos aquello que no gustaría o deseamos hacer, así como nuestros objetivos (goals) e intenciones (intentions).
1. Primero, vamos a hablar sobre las intenciones o cosas que queremos hacer pronto. Puedes usar el present continuous para hablar sobre cosas en las que estás pensando actualmente. Puedes utilizar las siguientes frases:
- I’m planning to + verb...
- I’m planning on + verb + ing...
- He’s thinking of + verb+ ing...
- We’re hoping to + verb...
- They might + verb...
Por ejemplo:
I’m planning to go on holiday next week.
I’m planning on visiting my grandmother tomorrow.
He’s thinking of getting a job in a month.
We’re hoping to find a new apartment soon.
They might open a restaurant soon.
2. Si tienes planes más definidos o has decidido hacer ya algo, puedes usar las siguientes oraciones:
- I’m determined to + verb.../I’m determined not to + verb...
- I’m definitely going to + verb... / I’m definitely not going to + verb...
- We’ve decided to + verb...
- We’ve decided on + verb +ing...
- We’ll + verb...
Por ejemplo:
I’m determined to visit Greece this summer.
He’s determined not to lose his job.
I’m definitely going to swim in the ocean soon.
They’re definitely not going to go out tonight.
We’ve decided to use a different gym.
She’s decided on visiting her sister in the US.
We’ll read this book tomorrow.
3. Puedes usar going to para hablar sobre tus planes e intenciones.
Por ejemplo:
I’m going to get home soon.
He’s going to play video games tomorrow.
They’re going to repair their car on Monday.
4. Si quieres hablar sobre algo más definido que es muy probable que suceda, usa el present continuous para hablar sobre el futuro.
Por ejemplo:
I’m travelling to France tomorrow.
(Ya tengo los billetes y el hotel reservado, así que hay una organización previa de mi viaje y es muy probable que suceda).
He’s getting married in July.
(Ya invitaron a las personas que quieren que estén, reservaron un lugar para la celebración, por lo que es muy probable que haya boda).
They’re buying a new house next month.
(Ya han ahorrado para el primer pago y han elegido la casa que les gustaría comprar, por lo tanto, es muy probable que el próximo mes compren una casa nueva).
She’s going on a business trip on the 2nd of June.
(Tiene una conferencia a la que debe asistir y su secretaria le ha reservado un hotel y un vuelo, por lo que es muy probable que vaya).
Otras frases útiles que puedes utilizar para hablar sobre tus planes futuros son:
- I’m looking forward to + verb + ing/noun...
- I’ve got my heart set on + verb + ing ...
- I’ve been dying to + verb...
- I can’t wait to + verb...
- I can’t wait for + noun...
Por ejemplo:
I’m looking forward to skydiving at the weekend.
I’ve got my heart set on having a trip to the island.
I’ve been dying to try the new dish in a well-known French restaurant.
I can’t wait to see the whales.
I can’t wait for the holidays.
